Picture, Director Thomas W. Jones

Music director Thomas W. Jones joined the Mineola Choral Society in 2006. He has been the Assistant Conductor of the New York Choral Society and the New York Choral Society Chamber Singers. Tom recently retired as conductor of the Huntington Men’s Chorus and continues as conductor of the Stone House Singers, a chamber choir in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Tom is a graduate of Amherst College, and received his Masters Degree from Northwestern University where he studied choral conducting with Margaret Hillis and composition with M. William Karlins. Tom has also studied choral conducting in master classes with Helmuth Rilling at the Oregon Bach Festival and Fiora Contino at the Aspen Music Festival. His compositions have been performed in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

Accompanist Daniel Berman  received his musical education at the Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with the eminent virtuoso Robert Goldsand (a student of Moriz Rosenthal) and earned his Bachelor and Master degrees in Music with honors. Awarded a study grant from the German government through the Fulbright program, he continued his studies with Bernhard Ebert at the Hannover Music Conservatory in Germany, where he received the professional concert diploma in performance. Dan's recitals cover a very wide range of repertoire from Bach to Bolcom including not only the standard classics but also many rarely played works and virtuoso transcriptions, including his own.
